Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 Will Not Launch With the Galaxy S21
Given the launch date of its predecessor, many people are expecting the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 to launch alongside the Galaxy S21. Unfortunately, that appears to not be the case as its release will be delayed to Q2 2021.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 Launch Delayed
According to Korean news outlet The Elec, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 will be launching sometime after the Galaxy S21 series. The reason for the different business strategy this time around is due to sales overlap. In other words, they don’t want these two devices to be competing against each other directly.
This means that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 will be launching sometime in Q2 2021 instead. From what we know thus far, it will be a big year for foldables as Samsung themselves are expected to launch up to 5 foldable smartphones, with one serving as a proper spiritual successor to the Galaxy Note series.
Not much is made known about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 and the Galaxy S21 series. For the former, we know that there will be 3 models just like the S20 series consisting of a base model, plus model, and an ultra model. It’s expected to begin manufacturing sometime next month, with a total of 6 million units available by end of January 2021. As for the foldable, the delay is said to be enough for them to add 120Hz refresh rate, but nothing is confirmed yet.
We expect to hear an announcement of a new Samsung Unpacked event coming soon since 2020 is about to come to a close and they are expected to launch their new flagship earlier than usual. We will be reporting more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.
Pokdepinion: Given how much I enjoyed the predecessor, I’m really looking forward to the Z Flip 2. I might just consider getting that for myself depending on the situation.
