Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Unboxing and First Impressions
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Unboxing
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 comes in your standard black box that’s standard for their premium offerings. The box is thin, so you can tell immediately that no chargers are included, though that shouldn’t be a surprise in this day and age. Inside the box, you can find the following items:

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 First Impressions
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, is clearly the highlight of this year’s lineup of foldables by the Korean giant, as it’s sporting a brand new look that most, if not all fans of the Flip series have been clamoring for. If it isn’t obvious for you yet, the cover display has become significantly larger, at 3.4-inches, and now goes under the name of Flex Window. The added screen real estate allowed them to add a whole lot more functionalities here aside from just being a glorified notification viewer. In fact, you can even reply messages directly from the Flex Window, and it’s surprisingly comfortable. More on that in the final review.
When you open it up, the main display is pretty much the same as last year’s model; 6.7-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with HDR10+ and adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Personally, this is fine for me since it was already an excellent display to begin with, not just for foldables but smartphones in general. One major improvement is that they’ve refined the design so the gap that appears when it’s folded is a lot smaller than before. The gap still exists, but it’s so minor that you can practically consider it as completely folded close. The crease is still noticeable but we’ll get into that in the review.
As for other things that are new, it’s now powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, on par with the flagships of this year, and comes with One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13 right out of the box. For our review unit, we got the Mint color option, and this somewhat reminds me of the Galaxy A54 we reviewed earlier if you disregard the Flex Window. This isn’t a bad thing however as this feels more hip, fun, and youthful as opposed to the Fold’s more sophisticated look as it caters to a different crowd.
Apart from that, you still get the same 3,700mAh battery, though we should be able to see at least a small improvement in battery life as the new chip is expected to be more efficient than its predecessors. We’ll find out for sure in the review. For now, check out the specification right below here:
