Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Reportedly Comes with 3.7 GHz Frequency and New Architecture
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the successor to the popular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, is set to bring a new CPU architecture and significant clock speed boost, according to recent leaks. Learn more about the upcoming Qualcomm chipset and its expected features.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: New CPU Architecture and Unprecedented Clock Speed
Qualcomm is gearing up to release the next generation of its Snapdragon 8 series, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The latest iteration of the flagship platform is expected to come with new CPU architecture, and significantly higher clock speeds. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 brought a massive performance leap and better efficiency, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has even higher ambitions.
The upcoming chipset is said to have one prime Cortex-X4 CPU core at an unprecedented 3.7 GHz, five powerful cores for performance, and two small cores for efficiency. The GPU will be called Adreno 750, and the model number is SM8650.
According to noted tipster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be manufactured by TSMC and move from the N4 to the N4P node, which is still a 4nm process technology but with a slight uptick in efficiency.
Pokdepinion: While it feels like a missed opportunity to to go 3nm for the Gen 3, that’s really just a small issue. I do hope having a more cost-effective manufacturing process would translate to some savings for consumers, though I doubt that would be the case.
