Sony has announced seventh generation model under its budget Xperia 10 series in the form of Xperia 10 VII, which introduces a dedicated physical shutter button for the first time in this segment, along with an updated display with a more common aspect ratio for smartphones.

The Xperia 10 VII integrates a new dual-camera system (with a new camera bump) featuring larger image sensors, which includes the 1/3″ 13MP sensor for the 16mm ultrawide lens, and a new 1/1.56″ Sony Exmor RS 50MP sensor for the 24mm wide lens that is approximately 1.6x larger than Xperia 10 VI’s equivalent. Like the Xperia 1 series that continued to feature side-mounted physical shutter button, the feature is now passed down to Xperia 10 VII that allows users to launch the camera app instantly even when the screen is locked.
While Sony has stuck with less-than-conventional 21:9 aspect ratio for its smartphones for quite a while now, the company officially switches over to a more conventional 19.5:9 ratio for this generation starting with Xperia 1 VI, while the Xperia 10 VII is the first among its budget line to see this change. This means the new model now gets a 6.1-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) 120Hz OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, protected under Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 surface.
The smartphone also gets a processor upgrade courtesy of Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, while the 5,000mAh battery is coupled with Sony’s adaptive charging technology helps maintain battery health. Other new features include redesigned front-facing speakers that minimize “cabinet vibration” and deliver deeper, more stable sound, while Bluetooth transmission is strengthened for better connection stability in crowded environments. Regarding software support, Sony promises six years of security updates and four major OS versions for this model, starting from Android 15.
The Xperia 10 VII is now available in various retail channels in Malaysia, as well as Sony stores, at a retail price of RM2,199; three color options are offered, which includes White, Turquoise, and Charcoal Black.
