Seems like compact smartphones are making a comeback nowadays, with the Pixel 4a, iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 12 Mini all sporting smaller sizes than other phones out there. They’re nice to hold, easy to handle and great to use one-handed. Now, the reported leak of a new Sony Xperia Compact further solidifies the fact that there is still a market for small-sized devices.

Sony Xperia Compact: Comeback is real?

Sony Xperia Compact

We first caught wind of Sony’s reported intentions of bringing the Sony Xperia Compact line back in November last year and the latest rumour seems to corroborate the previous report. Serial gadget leaker @OnLeaks reports that the new Xperia Compact measures at just 140 x 68.9 x 8.9mm and comes equipped with a 5.5-inch display. No info on what sort of panel the phone will come with though.

According to renders, the Sony Xperia Compact looks to be touting a flat screen surrounded by what seems to be thick bezels and a rather large chin. The renders also show that Sony’s compact smartphone will feature a small waterdrop notch at the top.

In terms of the phone’s camera, the Sony Xperia Compact will come equipped with a dual-camera system with the primary camera being a 13MP lens. Other features found on the device is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor doubling as a power button, a dedicated camera button, a volume rocker as well as the glorious 3.5mmm headphone jack.

The leak does not mention the new Xperia Compact’s release date so we’ll just have to wait on that one. Till then, stay tuned to us at!

Pokdepinion: I honestly miss using compact devices. They’re so easy to use though I have to admit, you do feel its size when you start watching videos and stuff.
