Xiaomi Rumoured To Come Out With First 200MP Camera Smartphone
There have been reports of Xiaomi working on a smartphone that will feature a 200MP sensor on its rear main camera. The report comes from serial leaker Digital Chat Station over on Weibo which, if true, would make Xiaomi the first manufacturer to come out with a smartphone that comes equipped with a 200MP rear camera.
200MP Xiaomi smartphone incoming?
As of right now, the highest megapixel count for a smartphone camera is 108MP and is found on devices from brands like Samsung, Realme, and even Xiaomi themselves such as the MI 11 series as well as the more budget-friendly Redmi Note 10 Pro. The report also says that Xiaomi will be working with Samsung on the 200MP sensor and according to another leaker. IceUniverse, the sensor will feature 0.64μm unit pixels. This is significantly less than the pixel area of the ISOCELL GN2, which features 1.4μm unit pixels.
Back in January, IceUniverse was the one who broke the news that Samsung might be working on a 200MP sensor under their ISOCELL brand. As of right now, there is no confirmation in regards to the sensor itself. There are also rumours that the sensor might make its debut on smartphones that are powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC, seeing that the processor features support for 200MP photos. Pokdepinion: If this is true, this would be pretty amazing where smartphone photography is concerned, at least on paper. I’ll be looking forward to seeing if this would indeed be true and how the sensor actually performs in reality.
