Sony Malaysia has announced the availability of its 98-inch BRAVIA 5 television, along with the local introduction of BRAVIA 8 II series and BRAVIA 2 II series. The main focus this time is the BRAVIA 5 with the largest 98-inch panel among the launched models.
Sony BRAVIA 5

The BRAVIA 5’s Mini-LED panel is engineered with XR Backlight Master Drive technology for its local dimming, and it features several preset models designed for specific content providers, including Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode, Sony Pictures Core Calibrated Mode, and Prime Video Calibrated Mode. The TV is also certified for IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos for its visual and audio capabilities.
In terms of software, the BRAVIA 5 will run on Google TV – which is Google’s own flavor of Android TV – while its I/O features a quartet of HDMI ports (two of which supports VRR), a pair of USB-A ports, a LAN port, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity. Besides the 98-inch format, this model is also available in 55, 65, 75, and 85-inch variants.

Meanwhile, the BRAVIA 8 II features a Slim One Slate concept design on the outside, and QD-OLED panel on the inside, paired with Sony’s proprietary XR Processor with AI scene recognition system that optimizes colors based on content on-screen. There’s also the Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology which uses the screen itself to deliver directional sound. There’s also the BRAVIA 2 II, which provides 4K upscaling and Dolby Atmos / DTS:X support, positioned as the entry-level model to serve mainstream viewers.
The 98-inch BRAVIA 5 is priced at RM29,999 and includes the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9, SA-SW5 wireless subwoofer, and RM300 TNG credit as part of a promotional bundle during the Sony Expo at Mid Valley Megamall, running until 6 July. As for the BRAVIA 8 II and BRAVIA 2 II, prices start from RM12,499 and RM3,499 for their smallest sizes, respectively.
