Facebook Reportedly Developing Their Own Android-powered Smartwatch
There have been reports alleging that Facebook might be looking to release their own smartwatch. According to a report by The Information, anonymous sources are claiming that the social media company is secretly developing their own smartwatch and will run on the Android platform.
Will people buy a Facebook-branded smartwatch?
Whether or not the smartwatch will run Wear OS or something similar has not been made clear. However, The Information’s report also indicated that the social media company is developing their own operating system based on Android. Which means it’s very possible that the smartwatch they’re developing might run on that instead.
In all honesty, a smartwatch developed by Facebook might prove itself to be a tough sell considering the social media company’s sketchy history when it comes to privacy. Also, there are many other more reputable brands out in the market right now so the smartwatch will need to offer something unique if it wants to stand out from the crowd.
