Samsung hosted the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final on 27 and 28 August at its exhibition booth during Gamescom 2026 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. A Malaysian team (San Gaming, 1CAA, Adikboy and Acad) took the championship title at the event.
#PlayGalaxy Assembled 10 Teams From Nine Countries
The #PlayGalaxy Cup is a global mobile gaming tournament built around showcasing Galaxy smartphone performance. This year marked the first time the competition was held as a full-season league, with regional qualifiers preceding the World Final. The final was livestreamed on YouTube through streamer Ludwig’s channel, drawing a total of 12.1 million views.
Regional qualifiers were held across five regions: North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe, with 32 teams from 17 countries taking part. The top two teams from each region advanced, resulting in 10 teams from nine countries competing at the World Final over two days. All players competed on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is Samsung’s current flagship smartphone powered by the overclocked version of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 silicon.
Alongside the #PlayGalaxy Cup, Samsung operated a Galaxy experience zone at its Gamescom booth where visitors could try the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Game experiences from HoYoverse, TiMi Studio and Gameloft titles were also available across Galaxy devices at the booth.
