Overwatch Rush will enter soft launch on 31 August 2026, going live first in Indonesia before rolling out to Malaysia and the Philippines in the following days. The soft launch introduces new features, gameplay improvements and a new hero, alongside continued testing and optimization of the game.
Overwatch Rush SEA Soft Launch
The new update introduces a Hero Level system, allowing players to earn progression currencies through gameplay and spend them on levelling up chosen heroes, offering more control over roster development and loadout experimentation.
Brigitte joins as a new Vanguard hero, reworked for Overwatch Rush’s top-down gameplay to combine frontline durability with close-range combat. Lúcio has also been updated, with his abilities brought closer to his original Overwatch kit, including the ability to use speed and healing boosts simultaneously. Soft launch players will also have access to Tracer, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76, Reaper, Kiriko, Pharah and Mercy.
Three new maps are being added: Narwhal Cove (Gibraltar), Hydronet Gardens (Cairo) and Mansión Portero (Dorado), each designed specifically for the game’s top-down perspective while drawing on existing Overwatch lore. Two new modes are also introduced – Duo Free for All is the game’s first multi-team mode, featuring three duos competing simultaneously, while 3v3 Control offers a smaller-scale version of the classic objective-based mode.
Gameplay Improvements & New Bundles
Overwatch Rush’s development team has made several adjustments based on player feedback, including a redesigned tutorial, an Aim Assist toggle, a “Group Up” ping system, and indicators for tracking allies’ health, ultimate readiness and off-screen positioning.
Two optional bundles are being introduced with the soft launch. One includes the Epic “Kingpin” Soldier: 76 skin along with 2,000 Credits, available after completing the tutorial, alongside separate Credit bundles for hero progression. The bundles are described as optional, with player skill intended to remain the primary factor in matches.
The soft launch is currently limited to Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines (on Android platforms, for now), with plans to expand to additional regions in future phases.
