AirAsia is officially launching a virtual world in Roblox called “AirAsia World” where it gives players a tour of Malaysia’s low-cost carrier with various themed spots and in-game challenges. In case you didn’t know, Roblox is basically a game that acts as a sandbox, which allows user to create a world (called ‘experiences’) in any way they want.
AirAsia Has Arrived On Roblox
Developed in collaboration with Objekk and Lumiworks Sdn Bhd under the IP 360 Metaverse grant by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), AirAsia World incorporates digital experiences based on two main pillars: Asean Exploration and Rewarding Experiences. The platform features immersive environments and cultural references from across Southeast Asia, allowing players to explore virtual interpretations of regional landmarks and cultures.
Players can access two distinct maps within the experience. The first, AirAsia Central, serves as a hub for mini-games and interactive content, including the AirAsia Ride Grand Prix go-kart race and a flight simulation through the AirAsia Pilot Academy. The second map, Asean Island, offers users a tour-like experience of various destinations across the region and features in-game Santan meals based on AirAsia’s inflight offerings.
This project follows AirAsia’s recent digital content efforts, including the “AirAsia Buds Adventures” YouTube series and the RedGames Jam competition. By entering the Roblox ecosystem, which hosts millions of user-created experiences, AirAsia aims to provide younger audiences with an engaging way to connect with Asean travel and culture.
