Valve’s upcoming Counter-Strike 2 is set to update the existing CS:GO experience with improved visuals and “sub-tick” responsiveness. But dataminers have found references to new weapons and a possible mobile port, as well as a new anti-cheat measure and a new Operation.

Counter-Strike 2 to Introduce New Weapons and Anti-Cheat Measures

Valve has finally unveiled Counter-Strike 2, a new version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) that is being built on the Source 2 engine, and is currently undergoing limited testing. While there’s not much new content, the game will be an updated version of CS:GO with better visuals, sub-tick responsiveness, and more. However, dataminers have already been looking into the game’s code and have found references to new weapons, including a bear trap, fire grenade, and something labeled “pipe.” It’s possible these weapons will be included in the Danger Zone battle royale mode.

Another exciting development is the discovery of a “mobile” reference in the game files, which has raised the possibility of a mobile port of Counter-Strike 2. Although it could be a leftover code from another game, it’s unlikely. Valve has released other games, such as Artifact and Dota Underlords, on mobile platforms, and the Source 2 engine is actually more compatible with mobile platforms than its predecessor.

Another rumour is that Valve is working on an anti-cheat measure that will cancel matches if any skullduggery is detected. Finally, it appears that a new operation with new weapon skins and cosmetics is on the way.

While plans can change, it does seem that Valve is ramping up its rollout of new content following the release of Counter-Strike 2. The game is currently in limited testing, with Valve selecting which players are allowed to participate. However, the game files have already leaked, allowing players to play the game offline (although playing online with others will still require an invitation to the beta). The release of Counter-Strike 2 on PC is set for this summer.

Pokdepinion: Valve is smart enough to know that mobile games are very popular, and it would be unwise to ignore that market. To bring such a popular franchise over would make for an epic announcement.
