Sony To Still Support PS4 ‘For Years’ Despite Impending Arrival Of PS5
Sony has stated that they will continue to support the PS4, even after the upcoming PlayStation 5 (PS5) arrives to the market.
PS4 to be still supported once PS5 comes out
The PS5 is slated to arrive in this year. With that in mind, many have wondered on whether Sony will still provide support to the previous gen console, especially when Sony aims to push previous gen gamers to the new console (once it releases).
The news was revealed by SIE CEO, Jim Ryan where he states that there’s still demand for the current-gen console. Here’s exactly what he has said:
We have always felt that we had a responsibility to serve that community (PS4) for several years after the launch of PS5, and that it represented a huge business opportunity for us.
Jim Ryan, CEO of SIE
With the PS4 being the second best-selling console of all time, it’s not surprising to see their decision. Despite the PS5 to come with exclusive titles for itself, there will still be game releases for the PS4, including from third-party studios.
As of now, not much has been revealed on the next-gen console. They did however introduced the DualSense controller for the PS5 as well as specifications of the machine.
Pokdepinion: For me, I’ll be taking a look at the price the PS5 comes with first. If it isn’t that pricey, I wouldn’t mind picking up one of the early batches. For now I’m still good with my PS4 Pro..
