Funcom has made several announcements for Dune: Awakening at gamescom 2026, including new PlayStation 5 gameplay footage, a new Filmic Archive DLC and cross-play support. Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival game inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune and the film adaptations by Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment, which is previously launched on PC in June 2025; it will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on 22 September 2026.

Funcom premiered seven minutes of new PlayStation 5 gameplay footage, captured on a PlayStation 5 Pro, offering a look at the console version’s visuals and performance. On the base PlayStation 5, Performance Mode runs at 60fps with dynamic resolution, while on PlayStation 5 Pro, Performance Mode runs at a consistent 60fps. Quality Mode runs at 30fps on both systems, with the game rendering in upscaled 4K across both modes and consoles.
Funcom also confirmed that PC-console cross-play – the most requested feature from the community since the console version was announced – will be added after launch, though a specific release date has not yet been set. Scott Junior, Chief Product Officer and Executive Producer for Dune: Awakening, said the console release will be introducing a full single-player mode and adding a year’s worth of PC content and enhancements available from day one.
The Filmic Archive DLC will launch on 22 September 2026 across PC, Xbox and PlayStation, priced at RM40.20 (US$9.99). It includes outfits inspired by Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, including the Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor (based on Paul Atreides’ visions of the Fremen) and the Caladan Stormcoat worn by Paul and Duke Leto. The DLC also adds a 73-piece Sardaukar-styled base building set.
Alongside the digital release, Funcom will launch a physical PlayStation 5 edition on 22 September 2026, with pre-orders now open at select retailers. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe will distribute the game across EMEA and ANZ regions, while Solutions 2 Go Inc. will handle distribution across North and South America. Spike Chunsoft will publish the game digitally and at retail in Japan, with a release date of 29 October 2026.
Dune: Awakening will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from 22 September 2026. Players who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition on Xbox or PlayStation will gain early access five days ahead of launch, starting 17 September 2026.
