Celcom and Digi may merge Asian operations

Celcom and Digi may be looking to merge their operations here in Asia. Axiata Group Bhd and Telenor Group are currently in negotiations regarding the matter, with the merger expected to involve over 300 million subscribers across the multiple countries that the telcos are active in.

If the merger pulls through, Celcom is expected to be a shareholder of the merged entity, which will definitely be the largest telco in Malaysia. The two companies have already suspended trading on Bursa Malaysia following the report to merge their Asian operations. An update is expect at 4pm later today, according to Lowyat.NET.

Pokdepinion: Well with the excellent coverage that Celcom offers and the nice plans that Digi has, hopefully the resultant merged entity will have the best of both worlds!
