Genshin Impact Looking to Quickly Solve Issue on VA’s Abuse Allegations
Due to the recent abuse allegations surrounding Tighnari’s English VA, Genshin Impact developers are looking to quickly solve the problem.

HoYoverse, the developer behind Genshin Impact, has issued a statement regarding the accusations against Elliot Gindi, the English voice actor for Tighnari. The allegations encompass various forms of abuse and discrimination towards the transgender community.
A 21-page Google document, containing chat logs and screenshots, was shared on Twitter by two moderators of Gindi, FretCore and phiotan. The document includes statements and evidence from individuals who have come forward to reveal Gindi’s inappropriate behavior. Many of the victims were minors at the time of their interactions. He is accused of sending explicit content, soliciting explicit photos / videos from fans, grooming minors, and showing a dehumanizing attitude towards trans and non-binary fans.
Gindi is also accused of broadcasting while wearing only his underwear, exposing himself to an audience primarily composed of minors. In response, Gindi issued an apology through a Twitlonger in which he admitted to his behavior and the allegations against him.
However, he maintained that the underwear streams were not intended to be sexual and that he did not knowingly pursue relationships with minors. He also denied the claims of transphobia, stating that he never deliberately misgendered fans. Gindi also acknowledged that he emotionally abused and manipulated his victims by threatening suicide if they ever spoke out. Since then, he has stepped away from social media.

In a statement to GamesRadar+, HoYoverse expressed regret over the harm caused to its fans, gamers, community, and anyone affected by the situation. The studio, along with its internal teams and external partners including its voice acting studio, have been working to find a solution, which could involve recasting or the removal of the English voice acting from Genshin Impact. The studio has promised to keep fans informed about the future of the character and to remain transparent throughout the process.
Since the news of Gindi’s actions came to light, the wider Genshin Impact community has come together in support of the victims and condemnation of Gindi’s behavior. Zach Aguilar, in particular, has spoken out against Gindi, saying he is “disappointed and angry.” He added that he has removed the stream with Elliot and will no longer be associating with him, stating that it is unacceptable to abuse power over fans in such a manner. Aguilar expressed his heartfelt support for the victims of the situation.
