HONOR promises Android Q for HONOR 20 series
The recent US trade wars have put HUAWEI and HONOR smartphones in somewhat of a pinch. With consumers worried about the basic ability to even use Google services, some retailers have set out to guarantee a full refund if HUAWEI’s smartphones ever get cut off from Google’s services. HONOR has decided to inject another boost of confidence in another way: by guaranteeing the Android Q update for the HONOR 20 series.

In addition to promising the Android Q for their latest lineup, HONOR has also committed to delivering security patches and Android updates to all HONOR smartphones. And they also mentioned that all users who already own a HONOR smartphone will be able to continue getting apps “as they have always done”, which should mean that the Play Store isn’t going anywhere on HONOR’s devices.
The HONOR 20 series currently run on HONOR Magic UI 2.1, which is basically a reskinned EMUI 9.1. Both HUAWEI and HONOR are bringing the latest update to their older smartphones as we speak, and HUAWEI has just started the roll out of EMUI 9.1 to their HUAWEI Mate 20 series today.
It’s nice to see HONOR and HUAWEI both reassuring consumers about the future of their devices. With US giants like Google even lobbying to end the trade ban against HUAWEI, the future of HUAWEI shouldn’t be nearly as bleak.
