Samsung seems to be banking heavily on their new Galaxy A series this year. While the Samsung Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 offered pretty good specifications for their respective price points, the Samsung Galaxy A90 may turn out to be the first Samsung ever to go fully bezel-less and notchless.

Samsung actually revealed this on the Samsung Galaxy A-series landing page, with a mention that the Galaxy A90 will be the only one offering a Notchless Infinity screen. This can mean one of two things: they don’t consider the Infinity-O cutout as a notch, or there will be a popup camera. We will know for sure with the Samsung Galaxy A90 expected to be launched on 10th April.

OPPO and vivo has already released their all-screen devices in the form of the OPPO F11 Pro and vivo V15. To directly compete against this upper mid-range price segment, Samsung opting to unveil their New Infinity display in a midrange device like the Samsung Galaxy A90 doesn’t seem too farfetched.

As the technology for cramming a camera under the display still isn’t mature enough, Samsung will have to settle for a popup selfie camera if there aren’t any bezels or notches to put the selfie camera in. This would sacrifice water resistance, which is probably why Samsung refrained from giving the flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 series.

As it stands, Samsung is using their Infinity-O display on their flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 series. Samsung is probably intent on keeping their IP68 ingress protection rather than opting for a higher screen-to-body ratio in their flagships. But that might change with the Samsung Galaxy Note10 rumored to sport a camera on its S Pen.

What do you think is more important though? Water resistance or a seamless display that stretches from edge to edge?

Pokdepinion: Well to be honest, the Infinity-O design is already pretty good. And I wouldn’t trade it just a bit more display area but lose water resistance.
