Upgrade the MacBook Pro with the Blackmagic eGPU — make it the “ultimate Mac setup”
Well the name is quite misleading. There is no black magic involved here. The Blackmagic eGPU is just an external GPU designed with Apple’s clean aesthetics. Most of the external GPU enclosures on the market now feature designs that would suit a gamer more than a professional, so this is meant to satisfy the latter.
Inside the Blackmagic eGPU is a Radeon Pro 580 8GB GDDR5, which is massive upgrade over the mobile Radeon Pro and Iris Plus GPUs you get in the MacBook Pros. Apple claims the Blackmagic eGPU will deliver supersmooth gaming, performance to handle graphics-intensive pro apps as well as enable VR creation and enjoyment.
Aside from amping up your graphics performance, the Blackmagic eGPU also comes with two Thunderbolt 3 ports to drive premium displays, a HDMI 2.0 port for more conventional panels, four USB 3.0 ports for your peripherals or VR headset, and it can even charge your MacBook Pro.
Apple recommends you to pair the Blackmagic eGPU with the LG UltraFine 5K display for the ultimate Mac setup. With the Blackmagic eGPU already costing $699 (~RM2824), and the LG display costing another $1299.95 (~RM5252), So, Apple, you want us to spend an extra $2000 just to make your MacBook Pro become the MacBook Ultimate?
Pokdepinion: Oh well, this is the time to ask yourself, do you really need that much graphics horsepower?
