Xiaomi launches new variant of the Redmi Note 5 — more storage for the same money!

We don’t always get to see free upgrades. But this is one of them. Xiaomi has just launched a 128GB variant of the popular Redmi Note 5, but prices it exactly the same as the 64GB version which was previously available.
This new variant comes with 6GB of RAM, which is not offered here in Malaysia, unfortunately. Priced at 1699 yuan (~RM1017), it now offers double the storage of the Redmi Note 5 6GB + 64GB which was available before this.
This makes the Redmi Note 5 an even better deal than it already is, now with more storage. For the uninitiated, the Redmi Note 5 is equipped with a Snapdragon 636 chipset, 12MP + 5MP rear cameras and a 5.99″ 18:9 FHD+ display.
The Redmi Note 5 offered here in Malaysia is offered in two variants, a 3GB + 32GB one and a better-specced 4GB + 64GB version. Will you get the Redmi Note 5 with 6GB of RAM, if it makes it to Malaysia?
Pokdepinion: Actually, bringing in a 128GB variant to Malaysia makes sense now, especially as HUAWEI is also offering the nova smartphones with 128GB of storage…
