Unboxing the Acerpure Pro P3
Starting off our Acerpure Pro P3 review with the unboxing, the air purifier comes in a standard brown cardboard box, with the branding, product name, and an illustration on it, that you’d see with practically any home electronics product. It is rather large so you’d have an idea how big the product is. Inside the box, we found the following items:
- Power cable
- Remote
- Documentations
- The Acerpure Pro P3 air purifier itself
[Editor’s Note: The air filter was pre-installed for our review unit. We’re uncertain if it will be the same case for brand new units or if it come separately and you will need to install it yourself]

Performance
With air purifiers, it’s important to know how well and how fast it can help clean air within the environment. As such, we will be doing a test using an insect repellant as the air pollutant and an air quality meter to get a reading.
Controlled Environment
Type | Readings |
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) | 1823PPM |
PM1.0 | 2µg/m3 |
PM2.5 | 2µg/m3 |
PM10 | 3µg/m3 |
HCHO (Formaldehyde) | 0.001mg/m3 |
TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds | 0.000mg/m3 |
This is the reading of the room after turning on the Acerpure Pro P3 at max speed for 1 minute with no disturbances or pollutants introduced. The readings will serve as the baseline of clean air based on its capabilities filter the air by default.
Polluted Environment
Type | Readings |
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) | 2041PPM |
PM1.0 | 420µg/m3 |
PM2.5 | 1000µg/m3 |
PM10 | 1000µg/m3 |
HCHO (Formaldehyde) | 0.182mg/m3 |
TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds | 0.956mg/m3 |
This is the readings we got with our air quality meter after using the insect repellant. As you can see, it’s pretty bad and usually, it’s not recommended for people to breathe in the air after spraying insect repellant as it’s a health hazard.
Test
For the test, we will be seeing how clean the air is after 5 minutes, with and without the air purifier to see how well it performs.
Without air purifier:
Type | Readings |
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) | 1809PPM |
PM1.0 | 20µg/m3 |
PM2.5 | 39µg/m3 |
PM10 | 57µg/m3 |
HCHO (Formaldehyde) | 0.093mg/m3 |
TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds | 0.654mg/m3 |
With Acerpure Pro P3:
Type | Readings |
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) | 1770PPM |
PM1.0 | 1µg/m3 |
PM2.5 | 2µg/m3 |
PM10 | 2µg/m3 |
HCHO (Formaldehyde) | 0.013mg/m3 |
TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds | 0.155mg/m3 |
After 5 minutes, the particulate matter readings from 1.0 to 10 have become lower than the controlled environment, though the HCHO and TVOC figures are still noticeably higher compared to our clean controlled environment figures. Our air quality meter had its reading go from Dangerous to Poor, and it’s not exactly healthy levels. It’s clear that the Acerpure Pro P3 works as it filters out particulate matter very well, but it takes a bit more time to deal with formaldehyde and volatile compounds.
The Good
There are a number of good reasons to consider getting the Acerpure Pro P3. For starters, it doesn’t look like your average air purifier as it adopts a more premium, elegant design. Compared to most other air purifiers around, this one looks far stronger, which wouldn’t be deceiving as it has quite a large coverage area of about 110m², or about 1,200 sq ft, a little bigger than the size of a typical apartment unit these days.
It’s also quite easy to setup as all you need to do is remove the cover on the bottom half, make sure the air filter is inserted properly, close it up, and plug it into a power source. Repeat the first few steps if you ever need to replace the air filter. Additionally, you have the option of connecting it to your smartphone, using Wi-Fi, via the acerpure Life app on Android and iOS, allowing you to monitor and control using your smartphone instead of the included remote.
Arguably the biggest attraction factor for the Acerpure Pro P3 is filter’s lifespan is roughly 9,000 hours, though it’s recommended to replace after 3,000 hours of use. If you use it for 8 hours a day everyday, it will take exactly 375 days before you even consider changing it, and you can stretch it longer if need be given the 9,000 hour lifespan. Just keep in mind that the longer you put off replacing it, the lesser the effectiveness gets. It’s a great figure as it allows you to not have to worry about any sort of maintenance for at least a whole year.
Lastly, if you ever need to move it around, carrying something this big may seem scary but you don’t really need to. There are wheels placed on the bottom so you can easily just drag it around to wherever you decide to place it. Just make sure not to use that on asphalt roads as that surface is too rough for the wheels.
The Bad
Of course, the Acerpure Pro P3 has its share of drawbacks. For starters, it does take up quite a bit of space given its size. Sure, one might be able to justify its size given its massive coverage area but it doesn’t change the fact that it is quite big. Make sure to plan the room layout properly when purchasing this so it doesn’t awkwardly stick out like a sore thumb and can still perform effectively (as it needs to be at least 18cm away from walls).
Another thing worth noting is that the Acerpure Pro P3 can get quite noisy, especially at max speeds. Sure, the fan inside is powerful enough to be able to improve airflow in the room its in but the noise isn’t worth it as it’s simply distracting. With speeds going from 1 to 4, I wouldn’t even put it at 3 unless you need to clear out the air as fast as possible for a short period of time. Just stick to 2 or lower and you’ll be fine.
One unfortunate setback is that the Acerpure Pro P3 suffers from connectivity issues to some degree. When I placed it in my bedroom, it frequently disconnects from the app and sometimes there’s an odd latency as well. This was no longer an issue when I placed it in my living room, which is where my router is located. Basically, you will either need to place it closer to your router or upgrade your router so you won’t have any connectivity issues, be it a Mesh Wi-Fi solution or just a much stronger standalone router. It’s also worth pointing out that it doesn’t support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
Lastly, the Acerpure Pro P3 is expensive. It’s retailing for RM5,599 while air filter replacements (Acerpure Pro Filter Replacement – APF271 (P3)) will cost you RM599 each. What you get for the high price tag is an effective air purifier that can be monitored and controlled remotely via smartphone, has a very large coverage area, and an air filter with a super long lifespan as you only need to worry about changing it once a year at most. The initial investment may be painful but it can be worth it in the long run depending on your needs.
Acerpure Pro P3 Verdict
The Acerpure Pro P3 is an excellent air purifier that would be overkill in a lot of homes. I’d reserve this for offices with larger open spaces or large houses as placing this in a bedroom would be a waste in terms of space and its capabilities. Sure, it might have connectivity issues depending on where it’s placed but honestly, you can easily use it without the app. Just turn it on and let it run as it’s intended to be easy to use and maintain, especially since you don’t have to worry about maintenance for at least a full year.
At the end of our Acerpure Pro P3 review, I award this air purifier with our Silver Pokdeward.
Big thanks to Acer Malaysia for sending us this air purifier for the purpose of this review.
A Panasonic air conditioner with built-in nanoe-x purifier purify the air too, price is around 2K-3K depending on the HP, so why need to spend almost 6K on this?
You can run the air conditioner in fan mode instead of cold mode if all you want is purifier the air and concerned about electricity cost. My room would have kind of ‘sweet’ smell to it if I turned on the air-con, so it is doing something to the air.
