Sonos Move 2 Introduces Stereo Sound To A Portable Package
Sonos has announced the new Move 2 portable speaker, as the second iteration of its Move lineup. This model includes a “completely overhauled acoustic architecture” that feature for the first time, stereo speakers for the outdoor-focused lineup. As with outdoor models, it comes with IP56 ingress protection rating and is touted to withstand “accidental drops, splashes, rain, dirt, and sun.”
The stereo capabilities comes from the new dual-tweeter design for stereo imaging, similar to the Era 100 that utilizes the 2.1 channel speaker layout. The Move 2 also supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, with the latter capable of connecting large numbers of Move 2 speakers to orchestrate the bigger sound. Another major improvement comes courtesy of battery life – Sonos says the runtime is now doubled from the original Move, now up to 24 hours. It’s also capable of charging external devices with the onboard USB-C port.
Speaking of USB-C, Sonos says the Line-In adapter (essentially, a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle) can be used to connect certain audio hardware that relies on analog connections, such as turntables or other audio equipment. The chassis – featuring Olive, Black and White colorways – now feature 40% recycled plastics, with replaceable and removable battery. Big win for consumers, indeed.
Now available for pre-order, the Sonos Move 2 will be available starting October 6th, 2023, with the price of RM2,799. Customers can pre-order on tcacoustic.asia website or head to Sonos Concept Store located at The Starhill @ Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
Pokdepinion: Replaceable batteries – absolutely a win for consumers. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit.
