Samsung Malaysia, in collaboration with Universiti Malaya, has announced the Top 10 semi-finalist teams advancing in the eighth edition of Solve for Tomorrow 2026, a competition focused on STEM, design thinking, and technology applications among young Malaysians.

The teams were selected from participants nationwide based on the originality, feasibility, and impact of their submissions, evaluated across four themes: Environmental Sustainability, which covered waste management, resource conservation, and climate resilience; Sport and Technology, focused on enhancing sports participation and accessibility; Health, addressing healthier lifestyles and access to healthcare; and Education, centered on making learning more engaging and inclusive.
A panel of judges from Universiti Malaya evaluated submissions and selected the Top 10 teams based on creativity, practicality, and potential impact. “The ideas we have seen this year reflect not only creativity, but a strong sense of purpose among young Malaysians to solve real challenges,” said Agnes Wong, Head of Corporate Marketing at Samsung Malaysia Electronics. “Through Solve for Tomorrow, we are proud to nurture this spirit and support the next generation of changemakers.”

The Top 10 teams will now work with mentors from Samsung Malaysia and Universiti Malaya to refine their ideas and develop working prototypes. Participants will also take part in a Design Thinking Workshop covering creative problem-solving, collaboration, and solution development ahead of the next stage of the competition, which will conclude at the Grand Finale, where teams will pitch their innovations to a panel of judges for the chance to win Samsung products worth up to RM114,000 in total.
Pokdepinion: Giving students hands-on mentorship to build actual prototypes, rather than just judging pitch ideas, is what will likely separate genuinely useful skills gained from this competition from a one-off exercise in presentation.
