Signify Introduces Latest WiZ Models, SpaceSence Tech & Matter Integration
In the launch event at AVANTE Hotel this Thursday, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) has unveiled the new WiZ range which includes the extension of Philips Smart LED and WiZ connected portfolio.
Both model lines, WiZ Smart Connected Lighting and Philips Smart LED light with WiZ Connected products are supported through WiZ smartphone app – which features voice controls, presets and scenes. Alternatively, a physical remote is available for direct control over devices.
The new feature available on WiZ App V2, dubbed SpaceSense, is supported on all existing devices. It uses Wi-Fi signals to detect person’s presence by calculating signal blockage/disturbances as the person goes through it. This does away with additional motion sensors or line-of-sight systems – all the users need is to have at least two lights operating in a room to enable this feature. Users can also adjust the sensitivity to account for pets moving around inside the room to prevent accidental detections.
The new industry-unifying, open IoT standard – Matter – will be integrated into WiZ products, the company stated. Matter is an open standard which enable supported devices to communicate with other IoT devices securely and is supported by mainstream technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which allows users to have multiple IoT devices to work seamlessly with each other.

Pokdepinion: I like that SpaceSense feature, should make presence detection a lot cheaper to integrate into smart homes.
