AMD will apparently be taking a page out of Intel‘s playbook, by adding integrated graphics to all their upcoming AMD Zen 4 processors. Destined for the AMD AM5 platform, it seems that AMD has pretty big plans to revamp their lineup of processors. With integrated graphics, the rumored AMD Ryzen 7000 series will be more directly comparable against Intel’s offerings.

According to the rumors, AMD will be using the RDNA 2 architecture for the integrated graphics on the Ryzen 7000 series, which is reportedly codenamed Raphael. This should prove quite interesting, especially when paired with DDR5 memory.

Currently AMD offers two distinct desktop lineups, there’s the APU series, or what AMD calls the “AMD Ryzen Desktop Processor with Radeon Graphics” which are denoted with the “G” or “GE” suffix, as well as the processors, which are just parked under the “AMD Ryzen Desktop Processors” series.

Obviously as gamers, we don’t really care about integrated graphics, but it might come in handy for troubleshooting or some non-gaming workloads. Hopefully by the time Raphael rolls around, AMD Media Framework would be seeing much better adoption, so we can take advantage of it like how creators use QuickSync on Intel.

Speaking of which, AMD is also expected to sell some of their chips without the iGPU enabled, similar to Intel’s processors with the “F” suffix. Of course, all of this are still rumors at this point, so do take all this with a pinch of salt.
