Recent Geekbench listings has revealed a new laptop processor from Intel, which are both using the same model: Core 7 240H. According to the discoverer @Benchleaks, the processor will use Raptor Lake architecture once again, while sporting just 10 cores in total.
Intel Core 7 240H
The Intel Core 7 240H reportedly features 10 cores and 16 threads, split into 6 P-cores and 4 E-cores – which happens to be identical to one chip in the 13th Gen Core lineup called Core i7-13620H. However, it looks like the new Core 7 chip will get a small 100MHz bump in clock speeds, at least according to the base clock listed in the benchmark entry; on the contrary, the Core i7 chip is listed with 2.4GHz base clock.
As for the laptop in question, the benchmark lists Acer Nitro V15 (ANV15-52), which should be an updated version of the existing Nitro V15 that happens to use the Core i7-13620H processor as well. In fact, the benchmark scores shows that they’re virtually identical in single-core performance (2687 vs 2694) and multi-core performance (13330 vs 13289).
It’s worth reminding that the Core non-Ultra lineup has been designated to serve the mainstream laptop markets, while the latest architectures are reserved for the Core Ultra lineup. In this case, expect the Core 7 to power cheaper gaming laptops where budget plays a bigger part of the customer’s buying decisions, and it’s expected to be revealed in the coming CES 2025, along with other laptop-bound offerings by Team Blue.
