Those who are familiar with overclocking Intel CPUs will know the popular tool called Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU), which provides a detailed look on the CPU’s status and plenty of dials to extract more performance from the chip. Earlier this week, Intel has released its version 10 of the tool, but there’s a catch – it’s designed exclusively for the new Core Ultra 200S processors only.

When you head to XTU’s software download page on Intel’s website, you’ll now be presented with two options: the version 7.14.2.14 is designed for all existing Intel processors, while the new version, with the version number 10.0.0.76, will be exclusively for the upcoming Core Ultra 200S models (and any future models beyond that).

Based on the changelog, the reason this version of XTU required a big jump in version number comes down to a redesigned driver, which is now based on Intel’s Innovation Platform Framework (or IPF for short). In turn, you get access to several new controls like SA Fabric, Dual Reference Clock, Granular per-core controls, Maximum Voltage, and more.

Naturally, you’ll need any Z-series motherboards in order to access the overclocking features; interestingly, the software’s support list has also included Windows 10, despite Intel’s hybrid core architecture that may end up not working as well due to the lack of optimization exclusively available in Windows 11. In any case, you’ll have to wait for more in-depth look on the new Arrow Lake processors when it launching this October 24th.
