AMD Radeon RX 6400 cards are quietly put on sale in China
AMD seems to have decided to just push out the entry-level AMD Radeon RX 6400 onto the market and be done with. Serial leaker @momomo_us has spotted a variety of Radeon RX 6400 cards available for sale in China and other regions, close to three weeks ahead of its planned launch in the DIY market.
AMD Radeon RX 6400 custom cards now available in selected regions
The Radeon RX 6400 is a really tiny GPU, packing just 768 stream processors and 12 Ray Accelerators, which is the same amount you get in the AMD Ryzen 6000 series’ Radeon 680M integrated graphics. Now let that sink in for a bit.
You get 4GB of 16Gbps memory, although the leaked sample showed the VRAM running at 14Gbps. With the TBP rated at just 53W, the Radeon RX 6400 is also going to be quite easy to fit into just about any system out there.
As with most of the cards that are on sale before the actual launch, the Radeon RX 6400 spotted in the leaks are also selling at much higher prices than anticipated. Argentinians appear to be getting the short end of the stick, with the Radeon RX 6400 priced at around $443 (~RM1869) to $461 (~RM1944).
It isn’t clear whether the custom Radeon RX 6400 cards will see a wider global launch, and make its way to Malaysia, or will it be a China-exclusive at this point. The rest of the world will still see Radeon RX 6400 cards in OEM systems though, for better or worse.
Pokdepinion: I guess it’s an upgrade meant for those coming from GPUs older/worse than the Radeon RX 570 or GeForce GTX 1050…? But definitely not at those prices.
