News for Intel’s upcoming GPU (codenamed Battlemage) has been few and far in between, but recently a new entry on shipping manifest has finally revealed one of the models, likely called Arc B580. Officially, Intel has yet to make any mentions of the successors of Arc A-series GPUs.

Arc B580 Spotted

The shipping manifest in question mentions “INTEL BMG B580”, and nature of this listing seems to point to a packaging material that is intended to be shipped somewhere. It also happens to list the dimensions, which we presume is the size of the box. As we know by now, Battlemage is the codename for next generation of Arc GPUs, and the model name mentioned here matches the pattern of Intel’s GPU nomenclature (A = Alchemist, B = Battlemage, and so on).

Here’s what is known about the Battlemage so far. Two silicon variants exist – the BMG-G31 and the BMG-G21, with the former being the bigger chip likely intended to serve the higher-end models (say, B7x0 series). These maxes out at 32 Xe2 cores, paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory via a 256-bit memory bus.

Meanwhile, the smaller G21 variant will span across the Arc 3, 5, and 7 series with varying amounts of Xe2 cores depending on binning. In this case, the B5x0 series is reportedly featuring 14 Xe2 cores at most, 10 fewer than Arc A580 (which packs 24 Xe cores). VRAM is reportedly either 12GB or 8GB, but uses faster 19Gbps modules – again, slower than A580, but B580 may have the capacity advantage.

In any case, with the shipping entry indicating that packaging materials is being transported as we speak, it’s likely that the GPU is now being finalized and be prepared for release. Intel still hasn’t said anything about next-gen GPUs or any dates, but rumors are suggesting that we may see these GPUs as soon as this December.
