Intel’s Core Ultra 200 lineup is about to get more confusing: while all models released so far uses the same Lion Cove and Skymont cores, the Core Ultra 200U series is not, according to leaker Jaykhin, despite it is also using Arrow Lake architecture, on paper.

Core Ultra 200U: Arrow Lake, Or Meteor Lake In Disguise?

The leaker has provided several details on what Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200U series may look like, which uses the codename Arrow Lake-U. As far as core count is concerned, all will be identical to Meteor Lake, meaning 2 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and another 2 LPE-cores. However, it’s more than just the same amount of cores, as the leaker confirms that it’ll be using “Redwood Cove+” P-cores, along with “Crestmont Enhanced” E-cores – both updated versions of the core architecture found in Meteor Lake-powered Core Ultra 100 series processors.

While they’re not sticking to the latest Lion Cove and Skymont architectures, it will still be a decent update as Intel will be using its Intel 3 process node (as opposed to Intel 4 for Meteor Lake) for the updated lineup. Based on the specs leaked, the lineup will get up to 500MHz extra boost clock as well, along with a small clock speed bump for onboard GPUs (which retains the same Xe-LPG architecture).

Effectively, this means the Arrow Lake-H/HX will be fundamentally different to their U-series counterparts, as both will use the same Lion Cove and Skymont cores found in all Core Ultra 200 series processors released thus far. (Side note, the Core 200H non-Ultra will stick to Raptor Lake Refresh once again). Here’s a quick overview on which lineup corresponds to what architecture, based on latest rumors and known information:

The Core Ultra 200 laptop processors is said to be launching sometime in early 2025, so expect some kind of announcements from Team Blue at CES 2025 which kicks off next January.
