The last member of the RTX 50 series will be arriving soon, as NVIDIA has confirmed the launch date for the GeForce RTX 5060 on its X/Twitter post. Specifically, the new GPU – in both desktop and laptop forms – will launch globally starting May 19, 2025 at 9AM Pacific Time (May 20, 12AM Malaysian Time).

RTX 5060 Launches May 19

First off, specs: while both forms of RTX 5060 share the same GB206 silicon, the actual specs differ. Starting from core counts, we’re looking at 3840 cores (30 SMs) for the desktop GPU, whereas the laptop GPU only gets 3328 (26 SMs); TDP is 145W for the former, while the latter will vary between laptops designs. Both share the same 8GB GDDR7 VRAM via a 128-bit memory bus – not ideal for gaming these days as it often is a major bottleneck in performance.

For pricing, NVIDIA says the desktop RTX 5060 starts at $299, while laptops with this GPU start at $1,099. At the same time, AMD will reportedly announce its mid-range entry in the form of Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex, though the new GPU will likely be competing against the RTX 5060 Ti, and that should leave non-Ti counterpart some room to enter the market with limited competition, until AMD responses with the non-XT variant.
