NVIDIA RTX 4070 SUPER In The Works? Leakers Revealed The Specs

While NVIDIA has released enough models from the RTX 40 series to fit into every price segment in the GPU market they can find (short for low-end), it turns out they’re not done just yet. Remember the mid-cycle “SUPER” series first seen in RTX 20 series a few years ago? They’re coming back – allegedly.

The SUPER branding has been a recent addition in NVIDIA’s product naming, intended for mid-cycle refreshes going by their last appearance through various RTX 20 series models (which includes 2060 SUPER, 2070 SUPER and 2080 SUPER). However, the branding didn’t make the cut to the succeeding generation, likely due to potential confusion as ‘Ti’ already serves similar marketing purpose.

In any case, the first leak of RTX 40 SUPER series came from @hongxing2020, who is said to have a ‘fairly reliable’ track record. According to the leaker, three models will be the receiving the SUPER treatment, which is RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070:

Shortly after, @MEGAsizeGPU – one of the most prominent leakers of GPUs – has revealed more details specifically on the 4070 series. The leak has corroborated with one of the aforementioned models, which is the RTX 4070 SUPER. This variant will be using a bigger silicon over both 4070 and 4070 Ti (which is AD104). That aside, mentions of an additional, non-GDDR6X variant of the 4070 (called 4070 D6 in this case) is also present here.

It’s worth reminding that the same leaker has also pointed out an upgraded version of RTX 4080 with bigger AD102 silicon over AD103, which at the time of leak was initially referred as ‘RTX 4080S/Ti’. The timing of this leak could point to 2024 launch – and is likely made in response to AMD’s RX 7000 series GPUs which has been undercutting NVIDIA’s offerings for quite some time.

Pokdepinion: ‘RTX 4070 Ti SUPER’ doesn’t sound like a reasonable name at all (then again, the name ‘iPhone 15 Pro Max’ exists). Too many names thrown around, don’t you think?
