Now that we know the launch of NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 40 SUPER series is likely imminent, leaks have begun to spill into the tech circles. Videocardz reported on two separate occasions that RTX 4070 SUPER has been leaked, and it just so happens to be ASUS-made cards in both cases.

The first card to be revealed in the wild is the standard DUAL OC variant, which sports ASUS’s dual-fan designs. Based on the images provided by the leaker, it looks like the RTX 4070 SUPER DUAL OC may be using an extremely similar design to the RTX 4060 Ti / 4060 DUAL OC cards, with the same dimensions. Visually, we can only spot a tiny difference in the heatsinks when viewed from the top. For reference, the standard RTX 4070 DUAL OC is slightly longer than the cards aforementioned.

The RTX 4070 SUPER DUAL OC, unlike its non-SUPER counterparts, doesn’t use the standard 8-pin PCIe connector. This is likely due to the increased power limit of the silicon (from 200W to 225W), and a single PCIe 8-pin will not be enough to provide a combined 225W worth of power draw with some safety margins. Hence, the 12VHPWR connector is used for this card.

A second card was leaked the day after the first, this time involving the ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 4070 SUPER, though details were less pronounced this time. A Belgian online store has put up a listing of “ASUS TUF-RTX4070S-012G-GAMING”, and leaker @momomo_us has corroborated this information with the model code that includes both the factory and overclocked versions of the silicon.

With product leaks beginning to surface, it’s safe to say the launch is very near – so keep your eyes on this coming January when NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang may reveal the new lineup himself at CES 2024.

Pokdepinion: I’m going to assume parts are reused for this card, though sharing the design of lower-end models seems like an interesting choice.
