Cut-Down NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Specs Leaked, No PCIe Cables Required

After various rumors swirling around for some time, we may have much more solid information on what NVIDIA is preparing behind the scenes for the next GPU release. While we know that RTX 40 SUPER is official, the company makes no mention of the RTX 3050 6GB, which is what we’re discussing in this article.

According to Videocardz’s industrial sources, the new RTX 3050 6GB GPU will pretty much be a whole different GPU in all but name. For one, the silicon is now a smaller GA107 die borrowed from the RTX 3050 8GB OEM version – not to be confused with retail variants, which use GA106 – featuring the same reduced core count at 2,304 CUDA cores.

Aside from fewer cores, other specs have been cut down as well, including the narrower 96-bit bus (hence 6GB VRAM), slower memory bandwidth, and significantly lower TDP at just 70 watts, with sizeable reductions in core clocks as a result. The power requirement means you technically do not need a PCIe connector, as the x16 connector itself will supply enough power to the GPU all by itself.

Likely, the impending discontinuation of Team Green’s last GTX series GPUs has prompted the company to spawn a new RTX 3050 variant to fill that void in the market. As a reminder, earlier rumors indicate that this card may launch in February, with a price tag of $179. The standard RTX 3050 8GB carries the MSRP of $249, for reference.

Pokdepinion: Why the same name (again), though?
