Palit Listed A Variant Of RTX 3050 6GB That Comes With No Cooling Fans

We now know from leakers that NVIDIA is potentially releasing a new variant of RTX 3050, which will soon be in the form of a cut-down 6GB VRAM model and significantly reduced power limits (plus the usual specs). At just 70 watts of power (allegedly), this meant that it could do away with dedicated power connectors – and allowed AIBs like Palit to design a fanless model.

Palit’s Russian website has listed three models: StormX OC, StormX, and the fanless KalmX design. The StormX variants are a single-fan model that comes with a physical PCIe x8 connector – though the specs listed on the retail page seem to be inconsistent with the alleged specs (it could simply be placeholders, however). In any case, the GPUs do come with a new product code, which should confirm the new 6GB model’s existence.

Aside from StormX, there’s the fanless KalmX model, which succeeds the GTX 1650 KalmX released almost four years ago at this point (Feb 2020). Here, the specs again list the TDP as 115W, contrary to the previously known 70W figure (for reference, GTX 1650 KalmX runs at 75W). The presence of a dedicated PCIe 6-pin connector seems to point at 115W being the actual specs, but there are no images for the KalmX model that can prove nor disprove the theory.

We should be able to know more as the purported release date approaches, which is currently slated for a February 2024 launch.

Pokdepinion: I’m going to guess 70W is the correct figure – cooling a 115W card passively is quite the challenge.
