UL Announces 3DMark Steel Nomad, Successor To 3DMark Time Spy

UL’s 3DMark Time Spy has been a highly ubiquitous benchmark tool among reviewers and overclockers alike since its introduction 7 years ago; and now, the company is giving everyone a sneak peek at what’s to come next, in line with the 25th anniversary of 3DMark.

The new benchmark tool is called 3DMark Steel Nomad, and it’ll be a big revamp over its predecessor. For starters, it will support not only DirectX 12 API, but Vulkan API for Android/Linux systems and Metal API for Apple macOS/iOS as well. The company through its email to the press has also noted that Steel Nomad will be the “most demanding non-ray-tracing benchmark” to date.

That said, there aren’t any dates set for the new benchmark tool’s launch just yet, but it’s likely sometime within the next few months. Until then, you can take a look at the screenshots provided to see what’s to come.
