Despite AMD officially stating that there is no reference (a.k.a. MBA “Made by AMD”) cards for the Radeon RX 9070 series cards, one GPU that looks quite similar to the rendered image in AMD’s marketing materials has surfaced on the Chinese forum Chiphell.

The RX 9070 “MBA” That Could Have Been

The card in question shared some resemblance of the render, which includes identical fan design and similarities in the middle section (though the real card is stretched further in length). That said, the real card still retained some leftover design elements from the RX 7000 series, like the top section (whereas the render shows the Radeon wordmark on the left), and the whole card is painted in black in entirety.

As for how this card came by, we can only guess – this is likely a pre-production or an OEM-exclusive model not meant for the DIY market, but in any case, this particular RX 9070 prototype shares the same visual traits as the triple-fan RX 9070 XT prototype surfaced 5 days earlier (above), also deviating slightly from the rendered images.

Currently, if you want to buy any RX 9000 series GPUs at MSRP, your only choice is from AIBs that offer such models – although it has been reported that MSRP models in particular has been hard to obtain, and factory-overclocked models have seen big price surges that also troubled NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series launch.
