Shopee Malaysia held its Seller Summit 2026 in Kuala Lumpur under the theme “Charting the Future of Intelligent Commerce,” in which the full-day program covers upcoming trends, innovations, and more. The event also introduced the “Jom Beli Selamat” campaign to improve scam awareness as online shopping becomes more prominent in Malaysia.
Jom Beli Selamat Campaign Launched With KPDN And PDRM
According to the Ipsos Malaysia E-Commerce Landscape 2025 report, the number of online shoppers in Malaysia grew 16% in 2025, with close to two-thirds of Malaysians now shopping online; in particular, ICT and e-commerce activities contributed 23.4% of Malaysia’s GDP in 2024. As such, keeping transactions safe from scammers is of the utmost priority for platforms like Shopee.
The Jom Beli Selamat scam awareness campaign is developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) – the campaign was officially launched by KPDN Minister YB Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, with support from SAC Mohamed Lazim Ismail, Deputy Director of Strategic Planning at PDRM.
As part of the initiative, Shopee and PDRM have jointly developed an educational microsite providing guidance on common scam tactics, safe online shopping practices, and scam prevention. The microsite also enables the public to report suspicious activities and listings, and provides access to support resources including information on the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC).

“As more Malaysians participate in digital commerce, consumers must be equipped with the knowledge and information needed to make informed decisions and transact safely online,” said the KPDN Minister YB Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali. “The Government welcomes collaborations such as Jom Beli Selamat, which bring together government, industry and law enforcement to strengthen consumer awareness, promote responsible participation and build greater confidence in Malaysia’s digital ecosystem.”
SAC Mohamed Lazim Ismail, Deputy Director of Strategic Planning at PDRM, added: “Consumers equipped with the right knowledge are better able to recognize warning signs and protect themselves from fraudulent activities. We welcome collaborations such as Jom Beli Selamat, which combine education, public participation and cross-sector cooperation to strengthen scam awareness and promote safer online interactions.”
Pokdepinion: Malaysia is particularly vulnerable to scams, so it is imperative that the masses are properly educated to prevent them from happening in the future.
