TnG To Maintain Status Quo On DuitNow QR Fees: CEO

Following the recent controversy of surcharges set to be implemented this November onwards, TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni has clarified the company’s stance on the matter. Good news: TnG will maintain status quo “until further notice”, meaning users will not be charged with extra fees (which PayNet said was originally waivered and set to end) in the immediate future.

“This very much aligns with our commitment as the leading digital wallet provider in Malaysia, in providing convenience through our payment services to small and medium-sized businesses across physical and online infrastructure, all within a safe and secure environment,” Alan Ni’s press statement reads.

That being said, the company acknowledges that upkeep costs are needed to keep the security aspects of digital payment network in check. “With a long-term perspective in mind, reasonable merchant fee is needed to cover costs and investments needed by the industry to upkeep their payment systems which include cybersecurity and fraud prevention controls.”

“For now, no additional fees will be implemented for our merchants until the industry aligns and moves forward together.”

Pokdepinion: A small sigh of relief for small business owners – for now.
