Ant International (via its subsidiary Bettr) has partnered with Muslim Pro to introduce a digital Umrah financing service for eligible users in Malaysia. The service is designed for Muslims who are financially capable of performing Umrah but prefer to spread the cost over time in order to manage household cash flow, maintain savings and preserve liquidity for emergencies and other financial commitments.

Bettr Offers Umrah Financing Up To 24 Months

The financing arrangement uses a Tawarruq (Commodity Murabahah) structure in accordance with Islamic finance principles. Transactions are facilitated through AS-SIDQ, SEDANIA As Salam Capital’s digital commodity trading platform for Tawarruq transactions. According to the companies, the structure has been reviewed and endorsed by Masryef Advisory Sdn. Bhd. for compliance with applicable Shariah principles.

Through the Muslim Pro app, eligible users in Malaysia can browse Umrah packages offered by participating travel partners, submit financing applications digitally and choose repayment tenures ranging from 12 to 24 months, subject to eligibility requirements and applicable terms; early settlement is also available under the relevant financing terms. The available packages range from standard to premium options and may include flights, accommodation, meals and ground transportation for individuals or families.

The partnership combines Muslim Pro’s digital platform with Bettr’s Islamic financing capabilities, while Bettr uses credit risk assessment models to evaluate applicants’ repayment capacity. The companies said the approach is intended to support a broader range of users, including gig economy workers and small business owners.

Muslim Pro has recorded more than 190 million downloads globally and provides services related to prayer times, Quran reading, Islamic content and pilgrimage preparation. Bettr said the new offering forms part of its broader Islamic finance initiative and Ant International’s ongoing efforts to expand technology-enabled financial services for Muslim communities.

Pokdepinion: Embedding Shariah-compliant financing directly into a widely used Islamic lifestyle platform should make Umrah planning more accessible for eligible Malaysian families.
