Telecommunications provider CelcomDigi has officially launched its namesake app, combining the functionalities of pre-merger apps – Celcom Life and MyDigi – into a unified app, which is now available for download on Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Simultaneously, both preceding apps will be discontinued on 31 December 2025, the company confirms.

In its press release, CelcomDigi says the app launch “represents the final and most critical piece in CelcomDigi’s brand unification efforts.” The new app will serve over 20 million combined userbase inherited from two predecessor companies, Celcom and Digi, prior to the merger. Before the official launch, the app has gone through extensive beta testing courtesy of 100,000 beta testers.

In the new app, users can manage multiple lines, automate prepaid reloads, and access entertainment subscriptions such as Disney+ and Viu directly within the platform (with more to come). There’s also security features like built-in biometric login, one-device protection, and electronic identity verification (eKYC) to strengthen security, whereas for technical assistance, CelcomDigi has a humanized chatbot called AI-RA ready to respond around-the-clock.

Now, this may be a slightly confusing bit: the app also introduces “gamified features” like Daily Streak challenges and weekly reward campaigns every Wednesdays for more rewards. I get the rewards bit, but for an app that supposedly acts as an utility tool, does it really need constant user engagement? (Anyway, I digress.) Finally, there’s the “For You” section that applies behavioral learning to recommend offers and services based on tracked usage patterns.

Gamification aside, the CelcomDigi app is well-equipped to deal with persistent scam threats: under the menu bar, there is a dedicated Safety tab offering resources and reporting tools, such as 997 (Malaysia’s anti-scam reporting number). Users can also subscribe to MobileSHIELD security service – co-developed with F-Secure – priced from RM4/month for active protection against malicious apps, scams, and privacy threats.

In conjunction with the launch, CelcomDigi is offering limited-time rewards, including 100GB of high-speed data for RM1, discounted entertainment subscriptions, and free roaming and IDD calls for 12 months for postpaid users. Existing users on the legacy apps will soon be notified of the change, and the company advises users to switch to the app as soon as possible.

Pokdepinion: The UI is somewhat improved in my opinion, although it seems like there are still elements of “super app” which I’m not totally a fan of.
