Digi and Celcom are officially merging into a single telco
While previously we have heard that Celcom and Digi may merge their Asian operations, it has ultimately fallen through. But it seems talks were still ongoing, and now Celcom and Digi will be merging their operations here in Malaysia.
Axiata and Telenor Asia have shared that they are now in advanced talks to merge Celcom and Digi into one entity. The brand name has yet to be revealed though.
However the name of the merged company has been announced, and it will be Celcom Digi Berhad. The new merged company’s CEO will be the current CEO of Celcom, Idham Nawawi. Meanwhile Digi’s current CEO, Albern Murty, will be the Deputy CEO.
Pokdepinion: Well I have always said that Digi’s affordable plans with Celcom’s coverage sound like a great deal… Hopefully it won’t be the other way around.
