Watching some retro 80s footage? Opera browser will soon let you have the magic to make it look like it’s new again.

The browser application has added a new featured named Lucid Mode: which automatically sharpens and clarify old clips on various websites. When users open a video on websites such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or Twitter – a button on top will appear which says “Lucid Mode”.

Opera says in a statement, “Once turned on, Lucid Mode will add sharpness and clarity so that content can be enjoyed as it was meant to be – in comfort and relaxation, without the hassle or stress of poor quality impeding the experience.”

They didn’t delve on the details of how this feature works, so that’s so far anyone’s guesses. You can watch how it works with the very 80s-themed ad below:

Pokdepinion: I’m actually surprised both AMD and NVIDIA didn’t add their respective tech (similar to RSR or NIS) to videos played in the PC. If they can upscale games in real-time, why not videos too?
