As part of the Apple Maps’ data recollection process, Apple today begins the image collection process for pedestrian areas in several Malaysian states and territories, currently projected to end by December 31st, 2024. This follows up the road imagery collection process initiated late last year, this time covering areas that may not be accessible to vehicles.

Apple will be using several methods for data collection, which includes a dedicated backpack system (for the Look Around feature); devices like iPads and iPhones can also be used for the process. the company stresses that the same privacy policy used for the vehicle-based collection applies here.
These privacy considerations include blurring faces and license plates on images used for Look Around – however, users can also request to blur any faces, license plates, or houses by reaching out to this email address, or use the “Report an Issue” feature in the app or website. (Any unblurred images will only be kept for 12 months, the company noted in its privacy disclosure.)
