As part of their Digital COVID Certificate trust network, the European Union (EU) now officially recognizes the MySejahtera digital certificate of vaccination. The information stems from EU ambassador to Malaysia, Michalis Rokas, on Twitter, and is said to be effective from 4th April 2022 onwards.
With this, Malaysia will be connected to the EU Digital COVID certificate trust framework established by Regulation (EU) 2021/953. Timing for it is great since Malaysia entered the endemic phase on 1st April 2022, opening borders for local and foreign travellers. It’s also worth noting that Apple now recognizes the QR code for the MySejahtera digital certificate via Apple Health and Apple Wallet since iOS 15.4.
Michalis Rokas also mentioned on Twitter that the move is a decision made as a “booster for business and tourism:. Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin responded with a simple statement: “Reconnecting Malaysia and the EU.”
Pokdepinion: As more and more countries / regions begin to accept the digital certificate, it would make travelling a lot easier moving forward, regardless if it’s for work or leisure.
