Setel Lite Provides Cashless Fuel Payments To Low-End Devices
The downsized app are designed for older hardware as far back as Android 4.4 or Huawei EMUI 3.
Setel introduces the Setel Lite – designed for underserved communities nationwide where access to latest connectivity technology (such as 4G, 5G) and latest smartphones are limited. It comes with small download sizes and works on Android 4.4 (Huawei EMUI 3) and above – which should cover all smartphones in the last 10 years. Taking connectivity considerations into account, the downsized app will work on slower networks such as 2G, EDGE and 3G.
Just like the standard app, Setel Lite users can pay for fuel using Setel Wallet and earn up to 3x PETRONAS Mesra points. Users can top up the payment by either cash payments, purchasing e-vouchers at PETRONAS stations nationwide or through online banking. Additionally, the UI features enlarged text and buttons for the convenience of elderly users. Setel also says the app will have more features “rolled out progressively”.

With Setel Lite, we hope to make the refuelling experience via the Setel app more accessible and user-friendly to the underserved segment with limited connectivity and phone functionality.”
“Setel Lite also hopes to alleviate the fear of using an app to refuel due to advanced features, especially amongst the elderly. Setel Lite is an initiative to bridge the journey to a cashless society for customers who are cash-dependent with a lighter version of the app that consumes a small phone storage space and an offline option to top up their Setel Wallet by cash,” he added.
Setel Lite is now available for download through Google Play Store and HUAWEI AppGallery.
