TikTok hosted its first-ever TikTok ClubHouse in Malaysia during the recent Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia race weekend, giving local creators an immersive, real-world experience centered on their shared passion for sports. It marked the first time the social media giant brought the TikTok ClubHouse concept to Malaysian shores, connecting creators through community-driven events beyond the digital screen.
TikTok ClubHouse Malaysia Brings Creators Trackside
The inaugural event featured “an immersive series of events” designed to connect creators with sports in a more tangible way. A highlight of the TikTok ClubHouse was a session with Malaysian motorsport athlete and former Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong, who offered expert insights and helped attendees develop a deeper appreciation of motorsport beyond race day.
“Motorsport is about much more than what happens on race day. Tremendous preparation, discipline, and teamwork go into every moment on the track. It was encouraging to see Malaysian TikTok creators soaking up the sport firsthand. When we make sports accessible and relatable, we can inspire more people to be active,” he said.
A survey conducted by Kearney of nearly a thousand Malaysians who use TikTok weekly found that sports ranks among the top 10 most-engaged content categories on the platform locally. The same study revealed that 79% of respondents use TikTok to discover new hobbies.
Nikhil Rolla, Malaysia General Manager of Global Business Solutions at TikTok, said: “The recent TikTok ClubHouse experience empowered our creators to connect with a community that shared their passion for sports. We hope that through this opportunity, creators can spark meaningful conversations beyond the screen and inspire more active lifestyles among the local community.”
Pokdepinion: TikTok threw a race weekend party for creators and called it a ClubHouse, honestly not mad about it.
