WhatsApp Disappearing Messages Now Available for Everyone With Extra Options 20

After a long period of testing, the WhatsApp Disappearing Messages features is finally available for everyone with some extra features. Here’s What you need to know.

WhatsApp Disappearing Messages Now Available

As we’ve previously reported, WhatsApp has been working on the Disappearing Messages feature and now, it’s available to everyone worldwide. In case you didn’t know what it is, you can set the message to delete itself after a certain period of time.

Interestingly, there are two new duration options available for people to use; 24 hours and 90 days. If you want to make use of it, all you have to do is go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Default message timer and then select your preferred duration.

Any new messages that you send will then be automatically deleted after the selected time has elapsed. Your old messages will not be affected so if you want to remove that, it will be a different matter altogether. You can set the feature for each individual chat, with each user allowed to set it on their own, but any changes made to the setting will be notified. In groups on the other hand, it will be up to the admins on whether participants are allowed to use the feature or not.

Just be mindful that those Disappearing Messages can still be screenshotted, so it might not mean much depending on who you’re chatting with in the app. Moreover, Disappearing Messages that are forwarded to chats that have the feature disabled will not go away. Something to keep in mind if you plan on using the feature.

Pokdepinion: Took them a long time to implement this. I still find it surprising that Telegram has this for ages but it took WhatsApp several years to launch it. Better late than never I suppose.
