Microsoft’s Bing AI Is Now Open To Everyone

No more waiting list – it’s now readily accessible.

Bing AI Is Now Open To Everyone

Microsoft has just announced a big update for its ChatGPT-powered Bing AI chatbot, three months into its first preview. The feature is now officially switching from Limited Preview to Open Preview – and the company is opening up to more features, wider access and even third-party developer support.

“In just 90 days, our customers have engaged in over a half a billion chats, using chat features to get summarized answers to help them with everything from finding the best place to travel for someone with pollen allergies, to organizing the last 10 years of worldwide volcanic activity into a table,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President & Consumer Chief Marketing Officer of Microsoft. “Bing has grown to exceed 100 million daily active users and daily installs of the Bing mobile app have increased 4X since launch.”

The biggest change is the developmental status of the chatbot – Microsoft is now putting Bing AI under Open Preview status, meaning the waitlist is now completely removed and everyone will be able to access the feature – as long as you logged into a Microsoft account. The chatbot is also getting upgrades, including capability to generate “more visual answers”, such as charts and graphs, as well as AI-generated imagery courtesy of Bing Image Generator integration (which now supports over 100 languages in text prompts). Chat history, a highly requested feature, is now also available.

Microsoft Edge will gets even more feature integration with the AI chatbot. Among them are: improved summarization capabilities (which include PDFs and websites), export and share chats to apps like Microsoft Word, Edge Actions – which lets the chatbot guide the users to appropriate pages based on user’s request (such as watching a movie on a certain streaming platform), and more.

Much like ChatGPT itself, Microsoft is also opening up Bing AI for third-party plugin integration. The company is expected to share more details in the Microsoft Build event later this month. “We are working with our partners at OpenAI to make it easier and as consistent as possible for developers to take advantage of this opportunity,” Mehdi wrote.

Pokdepinion: Meanwhile, Google Bard is quite literally nowhere in the AI chatbot race. How the turntables.
