Hyundai Motor Malaysia has officially launched the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N at KLIMS 2026, marking the first time the brand’s high-performance electric N models have been made available on Malaysian roads. In case you didn’t know, the ‘N’ refers to its Namyang R&D Center in South Korea, as well as the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit where N models go through extensive testing before they hit public roads.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 N & IONIQ 6 N
Featuring a 3,000mm wheelbase in a crossover chassis, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N produces 650PS with N Grin Boost active and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 260km/h and a WLTP range of 448km. There’s a bunch of N-specific technologies onboard, like the N e-Shift and N Active Sound+ (which artificially simulates an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission along with the sound of an “engine”), plus N Drift Optimiser, N Torque Distribution, and N Launch Control.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N fastback sedan shares the 650PS output with N Grin Boost and achieves 0 to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 257km/h and a WLTP range of 487km. If the car looks slippery to your eyes, you’d be right: this 4-door EV carries a drag coefficient of just 0.27 Cd, which helps with range efficiency among other things. Alongside that, it also features stroke-sensing Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) that is also available on the IONIQ 5 N.
Both models are available on a built-to-order basis – with the IONIQ 5 N priced from RM443,888 and the IONIQ 6 N from RM449,888 – through authorized Hyundai N dealers: Sime Darby Auto Hyundai (Selangor and KL), Goh Brothers Motor (Penang), and Heng Lian Enterprise (Kuching), with additional dealer locations to be announced. Alongside the launch, Hyundai Motor Malaysia is running a full brand showcase at MITEC from 12 to 21 June 2026. Visitors can view the complete Hyundai lineup at the event, including the TUCSON, SANTA FE, STARIA, and various N-Line models.
